Cronulla winger Valentine Holmes insists he'll be fit to play in Saturday's NRL clash with the Sydney Roosters despite picking up a nasty ankle injury.

Valentine feared his season was over when he rolled his ankle on the last play of Monday's loss to South Sydney, but was relieved when scans cleared him of any serious injury.

"I was definitely real worried. I've never really done an ankle, anything like that before. It definitely did hurt a lot and, luckily enough, it's nothing too serious," he said on Wednesday.
